Purpose

At Enlighten Training & Consultancy (Enlighten), we collaborate with emergency services and various sectors in our commitment to advocate for a sustainable future. Sustainability, for us, is not merely a buzzword; it's an integral part of our day-to-day business. We ensure that our operations consider environmental, social, and economic factors, striving for a balance that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations.

Scope

This policy is applicable to our employees, Associates, suppliers, and any third-party entities representing Enlighten. It covers our digital practices, remote operations, travel norms, training deliverables, and every interaction we have with our clients.

Enlighten's dedication to sustainability manifests in the following areas:

1. Our environmental impact

• We operate entirely remotely, thus significantly reducing our carbon footprint.
• We manage electricity, water and gas supplies to ensure minimum consumption through energy-efficient initiatives.
• By encouraging a paperless work environment and training delivery, we reduce waste and promote electronic, sustainable practices.
• We endeavour to screen suppliers to ensure that materials provided by third parties adhere to green credentials.
• It is our policy to work with our staff and suppliers to ensure that all waste is disposed of in line with legal and environmental requirements.
• We utilise, and promote the use of, recycled materials whenever possible, ensuring that materials are disposed of in an environmentally safe manner at the end of their useful life.

2. Our travel guidelines

• Employees and Associates are discouraged from using private vehicles when travelling to client sites, emphasising public transportation or shared mobility, which reduces carbon emissions.
• When supplying staff to clients, we endeavour to select Associates who are able to commute from the local area, reducing the need for extended travel and associated emissions.

3. Our commitment to suppliers and Associates

We adhere to and expect the same high standards of ethics, including transparency, trust, and respect. Our partnerships emphasise sustainable and ethical operations, ensuring that our extended network is also committed to green practices.

4. Our training offerings

• Digital-first: we emphasise digital delivery modes, further promoting a paperless way of working.
• Sustainable content: our courses incorporate elements of sustainability, equipping our clients with the knowledge and mindset to operate sustainably in their respective fields.

5. Our support for a sustainable society

As part of our commitment, we ensure our surplus IT equipment supports educational institutions, promoting both education and reuse to reduce waste.
